|Hawkins County Memorial Hospital|
Hawkins County Memorial Hospital is an accredited general acute care hospital with medical, surgical and emergency services. Our facility has proudly served the greater Rogersville area since 1958.
The hospital has 50 beds, 80 board-certified physicians and more than 190 nurses, technicians and support staff.
Hawkins County Memorial Hospital, which is part of Wellmont Health System, has worked diligently to enhance the level of compassionate care it delivers to the community by upgrading several areas of the facility.
The hospital undertook a two-phase renovation of the emergency department, which records about 20,000 patient visits a year. The changes include new flooring and window shades, chair rails and new paint in the exam rooms and a refurbished nurses’ station. Electronic scales for patients and a new pediatric scale also have been added.
Another change to the hospital included a new patient discharge exit that affords patients greater privacy for non-emergency patients who are transferred to another facility. Other revisions include construction of a chapel inside the hospital and a renovated entrance to the hospital that includes a canopy.
Hawkins County Memorial also played a leading role in one of the more significant changes for the medical industry. Along with Hancock County Hospital, Hawkins County Memorial implemented computerized provider order entry in the fall of 2010 that ended the practice of putting document orders and other patient information on paper. Computerized entry has been shown to drastically reduce medical error and improve the speed and efficiency with which patient care is delivered.
Hawkins County Memorial is proud to lead the way in providing a healing environment to the Rogersville area.
