Judge David L. Brand Graduated Rogersville High School and after his graduation from East Tennessee State University attended and graduated from the University of South Carolina Law School.

 

 

Judge Brand practiced law in Mt. Carmel with Reece Gibson until Mr. Gibson's death in 1989, served as Juvenile Judge from 1989 to 1993, and as General Sessions Judge in Hawkins County from 1993 to present.

 

 

  

  

Duties of the Office of General Sessions Court 

  • Establishes a docket of all cases that are to be heard in this court
  • Maintains a computer file on all past cases that have been heard in this court
  • Sets court dates for defendants
  • Issues Show Cause Citations for defendants that are not paying on fines and court costs as ordered by the judge
  • Provides applications for restricted drivers licenses
  • Receives and handles inquiries regarding cases that have been heard or are to be heard. court
  • Advises callers of relevant information
